Growing sunflowers is one of our favourite annual activities! We were a little late in sowing our sunflower seeds this year but, are hoping that, with this amazing weather we’ve been experiencing these past few weeks, that we have some lovely Sunflowers soon!

Gardening with children: Sunflowers in bloom!

Our sunflowers have now all finally bloomed just as we say goodbye to Summer today.

This is, without doubt, our most successful year yet with some growing as tall as 7 feet! Others only reached 2 foot tall but were pretty nevertheless!

The have attracted lots of bees, ladybirds and butterflies. Our view from our playroom window has been made ever so more pretty too !

Sunflower Update

I have been so pleased with this years sunflowers. They have been growing steadily since we first planted them. I think any day now we can expect to see some beautiful yellow blooms. Watch this space!

Way back in April we planted some sunflower seeds that have recently bloomed into gorgeous bright yellow flowers. We have tracked their progress measuring and watering them. Growing plant seeds with the children teaches them how nature works, responsibility in caring for something, an interest in environmental sustainability and pride in themselves for the results. Watching plants grow is a fun and educational experience for children and we can’t wait to try some more!
